I found this to be brilliantly told. You're constantly wondering what might have happened. And whether you can trust the suspect and her view of the story. The dialogues felt very authentic and all was brilliantly played by everyone involved, but I found especially Sandra Hüller's and Milo Machado-Graner's (who plays her son) performances remarkable. Extra points for authentic piano playing.

But this rewatch was totally worth it. Not much too complain about when it comes to action movies. The atmosphere, the action, that relentlessness, the music, the special effects (which hold up really well, I must say). I'll be back!

Thematically very fitting, but not nearly as good. It certainly had some good ideas and scenes, but overall, I found this pretty slow-paced and too uneventful.

Super well told with a great cast. I enjoyed both John Travolta's and Nancy Allen's acting as well as their characters. I like how technical this was in parts. It has great humour (the scene with the auditioning scream-dubbers: pure gold). And is suspenseful. Maybe the ending was a bit too over the top, but otherwise: thumbs up!

A curious and naive (in a good and very funny way) female Frankenstein‘s „monster” goes on an exploration trip – in a mostly sexual sense – driving all the men crazy along the way. Lots of very funny absurdity. Fantastic cast – especially Emma Stone of course – great sets and costumes, great dialogue and on and on. Want to watch again please.

A lot of scenes were just hilarious. But it also contained some serious issues like abusive relationships. And isn‘t a service to imitate the dead just a „normal“ job like everything else? Hm…

Anyhow: good movie. And I also vers much enjoyed the greek original: quite a pleasant language.

And this was just 100% fun. It has a lot of Jackie Chan trademarks: great action, quirky humour, likeable characters and a whole lot of breakneck stunts (OMG they had a little boy dangling on the outside of a skyscraper). Very much recommended, if you’re into that sort of film.

And this was no exception. But boy, this was a bit rough: while the story is simple enough, it’s still hard to follow, it has less action than expected, and it gets sidetracked by too many characters and unnecessary scenes. So, not exactly my thing.

Tap or click to view.

This has a good story, and was overall a well-rounded experience. It's still a pretty typical action movie, and has a few clichés. But it's certainly well above average. I was a bit surprised by how brutal some scenes were. It's almost like in a splatter-movie, and really well done. But boy, how they shoot Murphy to pieces is just horrifying. But the film also has some great humor in it: like the super-duper killing robot ED209, which can't descend a flight of stairs and subsequently lands on his back like a helpless bug. Anyhow, can recommend.

It's so well filmed, and looks so good. And it has lots of good moments. But I think I can't get over the fact that this is then spoiled by nonsense dialogues, a weak story, bad dubbing, and weird music choices. Maybe this is meant to be funny? Is it a parody? I don't know. Weird movie.

It was a great evening. And this movie was enjoyable, too: a great cast with their distinct characters in a dialogue-heavy movie. And up to all sort of shenanigans during a what seems to be a turning point in all of their lives. Quite a bit of macho-attitudes and actions, but overall very enjoyable. Has a great cheesy, silly, over-the-top dance scene. :)

VLC autoplayed this for us after Dream Scenario; and it was already late at night, but we couldn’t stop watching. We watched the second half on the next day, though. Anyhow… this was a very enjoyable and silly love story - kiwi style.

Loved how the whole put-those-sunglasses-on-to-see-the-truth stuff was done. Fantastic and suspenseful story, good score, nice action with a hilarious fight scene in the middle. Saw this at the local cinema, which made this a little more special even.

Could have had some more explanation of the motive for me, but that's about it regarding criticism. The special effects of the kills are ones of the best I've seen. And it has otherwise good action, a good cast, and some good humour.

It's a bit like Flatliners meets The Sixth Sense. It was suspenseful, had great acting, great pace, and a real good story (although, I didn't fully get it (,yet?)). It's one of the better newer horror movies for sure. And I'd watch it again.

This is another fine film you made here. And luckily for me, the pace is not as high as his previous effort, which makes this much easier to follow. It's still a raid on your eyes and ears, though. But in a good way. But I always feel, one has to watch his film multiple times to have a chance to fully appreciate them.

Once more, the set, costumes, characters, dialogues, his signature camera work are all top-notch again. It's really neat.

Liked how the photo camera of the main character had audible long exposure times where it made sense. And there's a million other things to like. But that makes it also a bit exhausting. I'd still watch it again!

And the scene with the first kills is fantastic. And visuals and music are great (and one of the trademarks of this film, I'd say). But then it goes downhill. The action is not very inspired. The end drags on forever, and even the music in becomes cheesy. Meh…

that Jason was this brutal force that just kills. Or the cliché nudity.
Or the sometimes quirky charming dialogue. And the scene where he beats
the one girl in the sleeping bag with another is just hilarious. But oh
man, this was long, the set design was terrible (reminded me of American
Gladiators in a lot of scenes), and the characters and the plot: puh.
And don’t get me started on wardrobe or props. It was cheesy, too.

To begin with, this is wayyy too long. It tries very hard being trendy.
And funny. Well, I didn’t laugh. It was just silly. Most folks’ acting
got on my nerves. The story is pretty constructed. It wasn’t
suspenseful. I didn’t like a lot about the filming and editing itself.
The ending is just ridiculous. I’m sorry, but It’s been an eye roller

slaying you to pieces. I found The Fog itself to be a little silly
maybe, but that might’ve just been the intention. Overall it’s great
fun, if you’re into old-school horror. The jump scares are effective,
the atmosphere menacing, and Carpenter’s pictures and music do the rest.

As usual for Wes Anderson, this has lovingly made sets and scenes, is funny, fast-paced and has an all-star cast. I definitely enjoyed it – but it was a little too much on the first watch. There’s just so much detail and complexity in the individual episodes – and even single shots – that my concentration was draining rather quickly. I probably want to watch this a few more times. And in slow-motion. And I don’t know if that’s good or bad – or what my final verdict would be. Talking about this movie afterwards was definitely a lot of fun. I say: go watch it!

And feeling uncomfortable is appropriate and makes perfect sense, too! But that sense had to explained to me, to be honest. Despite the confusing plot (at first), I was all on board with the movie. Until this over-the-top ending – then I really wasn’t sure what to make of this movie. But Bernd gave me a hint regarding the metaphors afterwards, and then – as already mentioned – it all made perfect sense. And I loved it! It’s well made and interestingly filmed. It revolves around the topic of coping – or not coping – with the loss of a loved one (especially on the birthday of the first child) and all the psychological and emotional challenges and dangers this can bring along with it.

Unfortunately the plot lost me a bit in the second half: I found the wording of the mother’s outbursts not always convincing (maybe because they had too many plain swear words in them?). And the end reminded me too much of “Home Alone”, which I found unfitting to the otherwise serious theme (this was probably unintended by the director/writer, though).

It’s a bit of a shame, because apart from that, I found the film is well executed with quite a few interesting details (I found that book great for example). And “the boy” is just adorable – and pitiable (and very well played by the actor).

And again I noticed how I can more relate to a parent-child relationship in movies since I became a parent myself.

I like the whole menacing atmosphere – both on earth and in space. The story is great, too, altough I’m still not quite so sure whether I understood everything.

With almost three hours in length, this is a movie I did not find too long. On the contrary: it could be even longer to explain things in more detail. I think the plot would have made a great TV series.

And I’m also not quite sure what the movie is supposed to tell the viewer. But my current short interpretation goes like this:

Love is a strong – or even the strongest – force in the universe. Maybe…

What does it matter to save humanity when you yourself are not with your loved ones.

Humans will even (almost) fuck-up a realistic chance of settling on another planet because of stupid selfish reason.

I could totally see myself watching this a third time.

And the main topic is interesting as well: racism and its nasty repercussions in the US of the fifties (and earlier).

But mixing this with supernatural elements missed giving the subject the seriousness it deserved.

Some episodes managed very well to portrait all that racism – big and small – the family members are subjected to. But this was boring. The “Chardonnay”-scene was the only funny one. Well, and Iggy Pop as Zombie wasn’t too bad. But that was by far not enough to save the film. The psychological interplay between the three characters trapped way underground was interesting, although not 100% convincing. This one is about the 2008 K2 disaster, featuring interviews and original footage, combined with re-enacted scenes to fill the gaps.

Again, I found this fascinating, simply by the topic itself. However, the movie was a bit confusing concerning where everyone was at what time, or why/when/how people got in trouble – or not. And the occasional non-linear timeline added to the confusion. Plus, the parts about the Italian mountaineer that was part of the first successful K2 summit in the fifties was redundant, in my opinion.

But overall, an interesting film about a K2 expedition gone wrong. But I had to consult Wikipedia afterwards to fully understand what was going on.

This was no exception. It’s an episode film about Taxi drivers in various famous cities in the same night at the same time. Not all episodes were equally good, but overall a very entertaining endeavour. Armin Mueller-Stahl in the New York episode is hilarious!

He’s a complete amateur – yet very bad-ass – and gets into a fight with the killer’s whole family. Suspenseful. Thumbs up!

Not really bad. But not really good, either. It’s probably a little better than I thought it would be. Still: not really recommended.
